Senior Research Engineer - Materials & Transducers

Requirements
Bose Corporation is seeking a Senior Materials Research Engineer who will be part of a multidisciplinary project team focused on the design and implementation of transducers. In this role, you will be part of a team of highly competent and creative acoustic engineers, materials scientists, and manufacturing engineers to explore and develop new transducer designs that are vital to advance Bose Corporation's competitive advantage. With an opportunity to push the limits of creativity, you'll use your hands on" experience to test new materials and develop material processes.

Major responsibilities include the following:

- Innovative material design with an eye on dynamic mechanical behavior
- Identify, drive, and influence the project team's research activities in the area of materials related to transducers
- Plan and conduct own research to help the team achieve its goals
- Manage the materials team of the transducer research group

Skills
We are looking for an exceptional individual that is interested in applying their skills in a fast-paced dynamic environment to motivate and focus the team's efforts on the design projects that have the most value for the company. The ideal candidate will have the technical skills to develop and implement cutting edge technology advancements, will also be capable of collaborating with cross functional teams to successfully implement the best new ideas into Bose products, and managing a team of technical professionals. Experience and proven track record of designing and engineering complex systems is required. Specific experience in transducer design will be a plus with at least 15 years experience in an industrial research environment. Proven experience as a project engineer with at least 5 years of managerial experience. Strong research skills with a desire to do hands-on laboratory work. Experience with a wide variety of materials, materials processes, and analytical equipment is desirable. Experience with system integration and understanding system performance optimization is highly desirable. Excellent collaboration and communication skills required.

Education
A Masters degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
