SUMMARYAs part of the Systems Engineering (SE) Team, the Senior Systems Engineer will be involved in all aspects of a “cross functional” product development process, including:Requirements development and management Structured system analysis System design reviews and system integration Technology assessments and trade studies Risk analysis Verification & validationThe role will have specific responsibility for key systems engineering deliverables, including program-specific documentation and more general process and policy definition work products.The focus of this work is Cymer’s excimer laser business area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.Applies fundamental knowledge of systems engineering to help define and implement the systems engineering function at Cymer. Applies extensive knowledge of technical concepts and practical engineering implementations to product development, typically covering more than one functional area. Performs functional analyses, timeline analyses, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Interprets, implements and monitors modifications to SE department methods, processes and policies that affect multiple work groups. Utilizes test data, modeling, and simulation to assess performance capabilities and assist in the documentation of requirements and the validation of system, subsystem, and module level work products. System architecture and requirements definition - interfaces with product management, research, and other functional engineering disciplines to accomplish these tasks.  Responsible for reviewing inputs to the system architecture as well as determining cost and performance impacts of the design. Participate in developing technology roadmaps and defining technical elements of the business strategy.  Assess existing or develop new capabilities, strategies or technical approaches towards establishing these roadmaps. Lead and participate in system trade and performance studies.  Participate in product design reviews.  Work closely with engineering leads to monitor the development, testing, and integration work during the implementation phase of the product lifecycle. Prepare system functional test procedures and create traceability from system functional requirements.  Oversee execution of system-level test procedures and identify anomalies in test procedures, and system under test operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

In depth understanding of, and demonstrated success in, the application of the principles of systems engineering. Experience with functional, physical, logical, operational, and other system analyses as performed in all phases of system development, including concept, detailed design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Experience with requirements analysis and requirements management utilizing industry standard tools such as UGS Teamcenter™, Telelogic DOORS™, RTM™, or similar. Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and ensure work products are of high quality. Ability to assess and prioritize systems engineering deliverables and work products. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral presentations to various functional areas. Sufficient technical capability to garner the respect and support of high caliber technical contributors and managers. Demonstrated ability to think strategically. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum M.S. in Science or Engineering with 10+ years experience in a systems engineering or technical program management role.

Previous management experience leading complex projects/activities is required.

Professional Training in systems engineering is desirable.

Experience with CMMI process improvement projects/initiatives is desirable.
