Service Engineer
Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc (MEAU) is part of a $40 billion global company servicing a wide variety of industrial markets with a family of automation products. MEAU supports the automation needs of North and Latin American customers with combined sales, marketing, service, repair, engineering, training, customer service, warehousing and manufacturing resources. This focused approach is being completed through a facility located in Vernon Hills, IL.
MEAU is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to provide technical service and support to MEAU's outside equipment manufacturers (OEM's), dealers, customers and end users, via telephone and/or on-site visits. This person will work out of our Duluth office and support the Southern Region.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Activity IdentificationProvide technical service and support to our customer, including: outside equipment manufacturers, dealers, and end-users, via: On-site service at customer sites In-house telephone support using an automated call distributor (ACD) network with heavy call volume.Communicate with customer to diagnose problems with computerized numerical controls (CNC's) systems, including: electro mechanical, operational, programming, electronic/electrical, and equipment problems. Install, program, service, rebuild and perform maintenance as necessary. Recommend additional services or the purchase of additional equipment to customers. Determine, order and replace parts as necessary. Fine tune equipment controls to aide in operability at customer site based on the specific environmental conditions. Load/upload test software. Test and measure electronic components. Provide technical input/expertise to be incorporated into the expert computer system. Provide feedback to support business, including: Service call feedback to Supervisor, using established database, phone and e-mail Design diagnostic feedback to Technical Support department Diagnostic feedback to Repair departmentInstruct customers on proper usage and application of equipment Repair or build test simulators Perform other job functions as assigned.
Travel Requirements40-50% travel based on customer demand in the Southern Region: GA, NC, SC, AL, FL, TN.
Essential Education, Skills and ExperienceBSEET or related/similar degree or equivalent related experience Mechanical aptitude Hands-on knowledge of volt meters, oscilloscopes, and other test/measuring equipment Ability to read and understand direction and procedure manuals Strong verbal and written communication skills for maintaining effective relationships with customers Good organizational skills for planning travel and arranging service calls Ability to travel by car and plane for on-site service calls Ability to be 'on call' to meet customer's service needs as they arise Ability to perform a hands-on role in an industrial environment, including but not limited to; wearing proper safety attire, maneuvering into tight locations, occasional heavy lifting and carrying, standing on hard surfaces for prolonged periods of time, and knowledge of electrical and mechanical tools for machine repairs. Team oriented Proficient with computers - knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
