Software Engineer - IP Protocols- Corporate R&D

Job Description
Join Qualcomm's Corporate R&D organization, based in San Diego, California, to contribute to work on mobile networks and peer-to-peer applications.

Design and develop software for new peer-to-peer applications and algorithms on mobile devices that support multiple wireless technologies. Develop proof-of-concept software prototypes of these applications, leading on to productization. Design the software architecture for relevant modules and components. Participate in algorithm, protocol, and systems development to improve and optimize solutions. Work in a co-operative environment with cross-functional, cross-divisional teams.


Skills/Experience
The following skills are required:
.Network protocol implementation and optimization
.Strong understanding and implementation knowledge of data structures and algorithms
.Experience implementing non-trivial, modular software systems
.Strong programming skills in C/C++ and knowledge of object-oriented design
.Strong understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite

3 or more years of experience is preferred in the above areas.


Additional Skills
The following skills are strongly preferred:
.Experience as a software designer and architect
.Experience with embedded, low-level programming

One or more of the following skills is a plus:
.Strong understanding of distributed systems
.Knowledge of communication protocols such as SIP and RTP
.Experience with technologies for distributed services and applications, e.g., Apple Bonjour, UPnP, BitTorrent, Kazaa, etc.
.Programming skills in scripting languages such as Perl


Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
