Summary 

Our client is looking for a Software Engineer to research, design, test, implement, and maintain software for their automated systems. To do this, you’d use a variety of computer programming languages and applications, both with teams and on your own. You’ll work with the electrical team to make sure the final product meets customer expectations. 

 

This position could be filled at entry, mid or senior level depending on your skills and experience.  Responsibilities vary on the level of position (see qualifications).

Qualifications

Able to successfully accomplish the following tasks, based on your level:

STARTING LEVEL1-4 years of experience.Assist electrical engineers in drawings and control architecture specifications.Evaluate, test, and document software developed for projects and standard products.Train customers on maintaining and installation.Respond to customer trouble calls 24/7.Ability to develop conveyor and graphic software for projects, using a solid understanding of programming languages and methods including: Function Block, Ladder Logic, Sequential Flow Charts, and Structured Text.Performing IT tasks such as computer setup, network configuration, and software installations.The ability to develop software applications in high level languages (VB, C#, C++, etc)

MID LEVEL4-8 years of experience.Master skills in developing conveyor and graphic software.Begin developing mid-level software applications to track packages and data.Lead evaluation, testing, and documentation of software developed for projects and standard products.Lead in the brainstorming and development of software used to control products.Create training materials.Good ability to develop software applications in high level languages (VV, C#, C++, and/or IEC 61131-3)Manage controls/project engineers daily activities.

 

HIGH LEVELMaster the ability to program in high level languages (VB, C#, C++, and/or IEC 61131-3).Develop software for machines utilizing motion control.Always look for new control architectures to apply to new and existing products.Maintain systems by monitoring, identifying, and correcting software defects.Solve problems and think laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of projects.Constantly update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals, and accessing new applications.Further develop existing systems by analyzing and identifying areas of improvement.
