Software QA Engineer

Nonin Medical, Inc., based in Plymouth, MN, has been in the business of designing, manufacturing, and distributing high quality medical monitoring devices since 1986.  We offer an innovative and dynamic work environment with the opportunity to contribute directly to a respected and growing medical device company.  We are currently searching for a talented Software QA Engineer to join our expanding Research & Development Quality team!

 

Working under the direction of a Senior Software QA Engineer, the individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring software quality within Nonin’s complex medical device products.  Quality will be ensured through the development and execution of software test plans and verification/validation procedures based upon software and system specifications.

 

The ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of experience in software QA for product development, experience with firmware design, assembly level code and strong analytical skills.

 

Responsibilities:

· Review product design documentation to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable.

· Assist in generation of use cases to ensure that all functional requirements of a system are captured during the product design phase.

· Consult with product development to evaluate system interfaces, operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall system.

· Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions.

· Recommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the development process.

· Maintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changes.

· Execute test plans and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction.

· Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.

· Conduct compatibility tests with vendor-provided programs.

· Formulate and design software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Education & Experience: BS degree in electrical engineering or computer science and 3-5 years of software quality assurance experience in a product development environment.

· Experience with assembly-level code development, real time signal processing and I/O control

· Excellent analytical skills

· High level of initiative with ability to self-manage

· Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as part of a team

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills



 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with ISO 13485

· Familiarity with FDA GMP

· Knowledge of C and Visual Basic Languages strongly preferred
