Specialty Description:
E-Commerce/Web Architect will be responsible for assisting in setting corporate direction for how the company will exploit technology in building and delivering Web/e-Commerce solutions. This key individual will be responsible for architecting new Web/e-Commerce systems, evaluating Web/e-Commerce based packages, technologies and tools, working with the business and other IT groups in enabling the creation of new Web/e-Commerce enterprises or expanding business onto the Web. This individual will be working with the operations staff (Server Admin, DBA, etc.), IT Sr. Management, business management, and vendors in resolution of highly complex technical problems.
Responsibilities:
Assists in planning of short- and long-term strategic planning of Web/e-Commerce technology direction for the organization.
Performs and/or organizes the evaluation or prototyping of Web/E-Commerce based software to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of introducing these technologies into the environment
Develops presentations to assist in presenting new technologies to sr. management
Acts as a primary architect that develops architectural plans, diagrams, etc. as part of a project team.
Assist with responses to security exploitations and compromises as required
Suggest Web/e-Commerce standards and processes
Work closely with other technology teams as required to prioritize activities and insure compliance to corporate and legal policies
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Must be able to understand business requirements, strategies and processes and understand the implication to system operations
Must be able to work with third party vendors
Must have advanced problem solving skills
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment
Must be self motivated, able to plan work effort and manage to the project schedule and priorities
Knowledge of network architecture, client/server processing, and object-oriented analysis and design
The ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions
The ability to translate business needs into architecture requirements
The ability to estimate the financial impact of alternatives
The ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems
Ability to make financial evaluations and develop proposals regarding current/future systems capabilities and requirements.
Familiarity in TCP/IP, HTTP/S, SOAP, DNS, LDAP, FTP, JDBC, ODBC
Extensive knowledge in Web based technologies
Familiarity in JSP, Java, J2EE, CGI, JavaScript, XML, HTML, Perl
Familiarity in Web search engines
Familiarity in state-full non state-full application designs
Extensive knowledge in multi tier, multi server, redundant server web application farms
Nice to have product knowledge:
IBM WebSphere Application Server, Microsoft IIS
E-Commerce Engines - IBM Commerce Server a plus
