We are seeking a talented Senior Engineering Buyer to work in a fast-paced, high tech, manufacturing environment. Candidate will play a key role within the Fluke Corporate Purchasing team reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and negotiation skills, problem solving skills, and experience as a engineering buyer in a lean manufacturing environment. The position requires an innovative individual with the willingness to take calculated risks and the ability to work with a diverse group of associates and in cross functional teams.
Responsibilities:• Obtain all relevant preliminary information to procure parts, materials, equipment and services necessary for the operation of an organization.
• Analyze quotations received; select or recommend suppliers with whom orders are to be placed and schedule deliveries.
• Develop blanket purchase orders, long-term purchase agreements and contracts and negotiate annual contracts to the factories and distributors with limited supervision.
• Review more favorable prices and advise appropriate groups as applicable; conduct negotiations as required to implement cost reductions/margin improvement goals.
• Advise appropriate company personnel on "make or buy" decisions as they relate to procurement costs.
• Arrange for trial evaluation of vendor’s products with applicable groups.
• Estimate costs of new items, usage of standard items and purchased parts costs for new product concepts.
• Maintain records, prepare reports and verify invoices for irregular charges.
• Expedite and follow-up on critical production part shortages.
• Responsible for vendor/commodity management of assigned projects.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:• Prior experience with working within NPI projects or engineering teams.
• More technical experience or background with business focus.
• Work Experience in setting up Supply Chain for new components, able to manage different commodities, and handling multiple projects. All engineering buyers are assigned to the projects as early on in the development process as possible, they will work with the team across multiple departments with all the different commodities used on the project: PCB, PCBA, Plastics, sheet metal, etc.
• Experience releasing 1st article approval and time-line for getting projects accomplished.
• Experience with several QDC processes for vendor selection and qualification steps in the approval cycle.
• Knowledge of general business procurement practices and techniques, negotiations, electronic products and characteristics and usage of materials to be procured.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business with minimum 5 to 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
