This is an opportunity to work with a stellar interdisciplinary team, leading the development of firmware for advanced digital, analog, and RF systems that employ dense, disruptive technology.  These include wireless micro sensors, advanced cellular modules, and highly integrated computational nodes. Tessera's product groups are now developing next-generation ultra miniaturized SiP modules that combine processors, memory, logic, RF transceivers, analog circuitry, and MEMS sensors for customers in the wireless, telecommunications, industrial, medical, government and automotive markets. 

 

The qualified candidate has a strong background in electronic engineering with an emphasis on software and firmware development.  A BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (MS preferred) or an equivalent engineering discipline with 8+ years experience in embedded software development and testing.

 

Job Responsibilities:

-  Lead the development of real-time embedded software for communications applications including key transmitter and receiver algorithms

-  Develop and implement system-level power optimization schemes

-  Manage and/or collaborate with a diverse set of technical contributors, including sub-contractors, partners and end-customers to create compelling new products and product demonstrations.

-  Provide technical vision and expertise to guide and contribute to Tessera's advanced electronic system densification activities

 

Qualifications and Experience

-  8 years minimum of "hands on" experience

-  Experienced in writing control or protocol software for controllers such as ARM, MIPS or Atmega processors.

-  Experienced in writing power management firmware for power sensitive systems such as cell phones

-  Experience with physical/media access layer firmware for mobile handsets.

-  Designing, developing, debugging and verifying advanced communications algorithms on digital signal processing platforms such as TI DSPs

-  Fluent in software engineering fundamentals, including software design, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, maintainability, revision control, and object oriented design

-  Ability to make trade off analysis between processing times, memory requirements and power consumption during code development

-  Must be a team player and excellent communicator

-  Demonstrated project management skills

-  Strong analytical skills and the ability to innovate, creating disciplined solutions to complex problems

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications

-  Strong understanding of all aspects of communications including digital filtering techniques, modulation schemes, forward error correction, carrier recovery, timing recovery and equalization.

-  Experience in TI Code Composer studio or a similar tool suite

-  Experience in floating point and fixed-point modeling using SPW, Matlab or a similar tool.

-  Windows and/or Linux-based driver development experience and applications programming

-  Technical patents, technical papers and presentations, and membership in technical associations, e.g., IEEE, SPIE, etc.

-  ASIC or FPGA design experience

-  Experience developing technical proposals

 

Education Requirements:

A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline
