Sr. Manager, Product Development and Design - Electronic Toys

JAKKS is seeking an interactive product development “superstar” to spearhead research on trends in toy technology while leading team brainstorms for new products.  This person will present new product concepts to management and be integral in determining what toys JAKKS Interactive produces for 2009 and beyond. He/she will work closely with the product development team, Hong Kong and marketing.



Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position will include, but may extend beyond the following:Brainstorm ideas for both new products for existing product lines and new product lines.  Lead brainstorms with product development team. Research available technology and cost of goods.  Determine if technology is viable for toys. Present research findings and concepts to management.  See concepts through to development. Work closely with other product development team members, marketing and Hong Kong. Travel to Hong Kong to work with engineering team on new technologies and products.



RequirementsMust be creative. Able to conceptualize marketable product and engineer their design. Must be familiar with competitive products and industry trends. Must be able to apply this knowledge to product concepts, both their own and others’.Must be proficient in hardware and software used for interactive toys. A strong technical background is a must. Must be an effective, concise communicator, both written and verbal. Must be proactive. Must be organized and keep work fully documented. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple projects under pressured timelines. Must be a team player. Must be a problem solver. Must be able to adapt to department’s changing needs.



ExperienceBachelor's degree, preferably in design, technology or business/marketing. Minimum of five years product design/development/management experience. Demonstrated ability to spearhead development on innovative products with electronics. Experience working with Hong Kong. Experience researching technology for toys.
