Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Sparton Electronics has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer.  This position will support new sonobuoy product development efforts as well as engineering support of existing sonobuoy programs.

Specific skill requirements include design of die-cast parts, injection molded parts, stamped parts, extruded parts, mechanisms, hermetically sealed containers, electronics packaging, air descent systems, floatation systems, under-water deployment/suspension systems, and product assembly fixtures.  Candidate must be able to support their design with analysis and calculations.  Candidate will also be required to implement product improvements, cost reductions, and initiate other related engineering changes.  Candidates should also be comfortable with hands-on assembly, occasional machine shop work, and testing.  Candidate will be required to maintain accurate records of engineering activities and engineering documentation.  Candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills, and be capable of interfacing with the customer at a technical level.  Candidate must show high initiative, be self-motivated, and have the ability to act independently to resolve issues on technical matters.

Specific qualifications include BSME with a minimum of seven years of experience, proficient user of SolidWorks 3D modeling and MS Office applications, and ability to travel occasionally.  Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess a government security clearance or had an active government security clearance in the past 2 years.
