Sr. Staff ASIC System-Level Verification Test Engineer / 08-09337

Position Description:Broadcom is developing solutions supporting the next generation of 3G and 4G high-speed mobile technologies. As part of the CellAirity™ Mobile Platform, Broadcom offers a family of HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access), WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple-Access), EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) baseband processors for use in cellular handsets, PC cards and other wireless-enabled consumer electronics.As an ASIC System-Level Verification Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the ASIC system-level verification test plan development/enhancement, execution, troubleshooting, optimization and problem resolution on 2G/3G (UMTS) mobile devices. You will be working with a multi-discipline team to test and commercialize UMTS solutions. You will actively be involved in producing requirements for tools and system simulators and work closely with development teams and test equipment vendors to come up with the appropriate test set ups and associated automation. Close interaction will be required with the ASIC HW, platform, modem stack, multi-media, RF, drivers, 3GPP Standard representatives and System Design Engineers to ensure test coverage and feedback on Change Requests. Successful candidate must have strong communication skills, be an effective team player and be able to work independently.The position involves in-depth system-level debugging of UMTS issues including ASIC blocks, power management, platform, and SW. Exposure to RF test equipment such as Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, RF Faders; and UMTS test simulators and test systems like Anite, R&S, Racal, Anritsu and Agilent is a plus.Qualifications:*Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 9 years of related experience or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years of related experience.*Exposure to Wireless/analog/digital/data communications, RF propagation, antennas.*Basic knowledge of WCDMA and GSM /GPRS protocol stacks. *Perl Scripting skills, programming experience in TTCN, C or C++ is a plus.
