SUMMARY
The open position is for a senior level engineer/scientist (individual contributor). Position responsibilities include: providing applications support within a manufacturing and supply chain for new products; providing technical expertise in the analysis, design, and testing of product and process technologies with aggressive chemistries, flow and pressure measurement, and control including new sensor technologies and sophisticated actuators. The person must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment and work on multiple concurrent cross-functional projects. A successful candidate must be highly self-motivated, have a fundamental understanding of semiconductor equipment process development, supplier development, specification generation and validation. Extensive hands-on clean room work will be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides professional expertise or services through leveraging the personal knowledge and skills sets to assess, qualify, designs and processes at suppliers. Acts as an interface between Cymer design and manufacturing and the identified suppliers. Provides expertise for design of systems, modules and components of semiconductor lithographic exposure equipment operating in a vacuum environmentGenerates specifications for materials selection, cleanliness and design of components, modules and systems to be operated in high vacuum environments. Provides guidance to Procurement in developing a supplier base for parts to be used within the product, and works with Suppliers to demonstrate capability and qualifies parts and processes used by suppliersIndependently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, to make adaptations and modifications in order to solve technical problems.Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of sub-assemblies and final assemblies as necessaryManages supplier and manufacturing engineering related activities, as required. Interfaces with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product specification and requirement documents .Leads teams across multiple functional groups in the use of DFM principles to reduce product costs and improve delivered product quality. Develops design methods and parameters, project methodology and/or project proposals.Gathers operational test data and evaluates results; manages corrective actions. Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies. Identifies, documents and implements new business processes and efficiency improvement tools. Mentors and trains lower level engineers; identifies training needs, updates training curriculums, and develops training programs.Duties will vary according to the project in progress and/or the specific departmental goals. Duties may include leading team based solutions to problems identified throughout the product lifecycle.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise engineers and/or engineering technicians on a project basis. Is responsible for the daily activities, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training staff; planning, assigning, and directing daily work activities. Provides input to performance appraisals; assists manager in addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Able to adapt quickly to changes.Expertise in Labview programming, flow measurement and control, pressure measurement and control, gas analysis, plasma systems, defect reduction, heat transfer, and the kinetic theory of gases is desired. Performs well in groups or individually, superior communication and presentation skills, detail oriented, results driven and excellent leadership skills.Experience in semiconductor based or large high purity capital equipment projects preferred with significant supplier relationship and development.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE MS in Physical Chemistry or Engineering; Ph.D. preferred. 8+ years manufacturing engineering experience.Minimum of 3 years of experience as a team lead for complex projects/activities.Six Sigma or other statistical training – desiredStrong computer skills, including automated data collection and reporting with Microsoft SQL and Access with the ability to create data entry forms or macros. Proficient with Microsoft Office SW suite.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
