Senior Systems Engineer: Experienced in the design and operation of complex systems from the conceptual phase through product deployment, Able to work with senior scientists/subject matter experts to transfer technology from R&D in to a viable product. Must be able to clearly define requirements for the system to provide guidance for a product design team Able to decompose a complex system in to manageable blocks and flow down requirements from the system level to these blocks in a way that maintains net system performance Work with design engineering team to evaluate concepts against requirements and select best options for design path Strong data analysis and presentation skills a must Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must have significant experience in several of the following areas: vacuum systems; precision optomechanics, real time control systems, mechanical systems in vacuum, high power lasers, plasma physics
Semiconductor capital equipment experience is a plus.
SUMMARY:
Provides professional expertise or services directly, and through leveraging the knowledge and skills of others, for a laser produced plasma EUV source. Incumbent performs a variety of engineering tasks including designing, developing, testing, analyzing, troubleshooting and implementing subassemblies and modules. Creates and evaluates designs to meet requirements of specified applications. Design activities include stress and thermal analysis, and tolerancing. Provides technical skills supporting research and product development. Researches and selects future key suppliers for consideration as turn-key providers of sub-systems. As an expert in the field, uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Works on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies. Often serves as consultant to management and external spokesperson for the organization. May assist in the negotiation of major contracts involving large dollar amounts. Monitors the cost, schedule, and performance aspects of key suppliers under contracts. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to source critical supply requirements and drive new product development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.Assume “Engineering Responsibility” for module or subsystem design from concept design through manufacturing transfer and ramp.Assume “Engineering Responsibility” for component and subassembly test development, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.Generate module or system concepts to meet product requirements.Validate concepts through breadboard builds and analysis.Detailed design and component layout for new or improved subsystems.Perform tolerance analysis at system and subsystem level.Manage a project plan including key deliverables, timeline, and budgetWork with other Engineers and CAD Designers for prototype and pilot detailed designDrive full documentation of design including, BOM, drawings, and procedures.Design verification testingManage development activities using the Cymer Product Development Process including concept reviews, design reviews, proto builds, pilot builds, verification testing, etc.; with records and completion of all open action items.Responsible for the research and selection of new suppliers with potential for turn-key provision of key subsystems. Responsible for providing technical expertise in the core technology area of the potential suppliers to reveal best design path, and performance and cost from future subsystem purchases.Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.Performs cost analysis and pilot volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcingInteracts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues. Ability to work cross-functionally with Executives to achieve critical business objectives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEPhD and 5+ years of relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.Experience with product development desired.
