Staff Verification Engineer

Introduction

 

ARM’s embedded memory compilers are the industry standard.  They are used by thousands of design teams around the world.  At current process technologies, built-in self test (BIST) and repair (BISR) of embedded memories is mandatory.  The DFT (Design for Test) group within the Physical IP Division of ARM has created an innovative and user-friendly BIST/BISR solution to address the test and repair demands of current technologies.  This solution is called emBISTRx.  ARM requires a verification engineer to help lead the RTL validation effort of the components that comprise emBISTRx.

 

Job Purpose

 

emBISRx is a set of EDA tools capable of creating configurable and synthesizable Verilog RTL code for insertion into SoC designs that utilize ARM’s embedded memory technology.  The fundamental purpose of this job is to ensure that the RTL design is functional and meets the design requirements through the creation of clear and well-written Verilog testbenches. 

 

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

 

Develop and implement a test plan for parameterized, generator-based repairable memory controllers, including links to a global TAP controller, power-on circuitry, and fuses (electric or laser).

Ensure conformance of design to ARM guidelines for reusable IP.

Ensure that verification tests have complete code coverage, branch coverage and state coverage.

Verify coverage across all generator space.

Work with software team to develop a parameterized testbench generation capability for product users.

Document, maintain, and extend verification suites as needed for new memories and fault models.

Create a Verilog memory model that simulates standard faults.  Include model in verification suite to ensure that BIST/BISR can detect and repair faults.

Education & Qualifications

 

BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent experience

 

Essential Skills & Experience

 

3-5 years RTL verification experience

Experience with writing, validating, and debugging testbenches

Competency in writing testbenches using System Verilog, VERA, or other high-level testing languages

Experience in developing a test plan

Able to interpret standards and verify conformance

Experience is using Synopsys Design Compiler, PrimeTime, Verilog simulation, Atrena Spyglass, or equivalent tool

Familiarity with Unix scripting and tools

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

 

Knowledge of general DFT and BIST/BISR concepts

Ability to effectively work with verification teams at geographically-separated sites

Working knowledge of SoC design flows

 

Interpersonal Skills

 

Excellent communication skills, oral and written

Capable of working directly with customers and maintaining customer satisfaction

Enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible with strong inter-personal skills

High degree of initiative and creativity

Willingness and ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives
