Technical Writer
Located in: Manassas, VA 20110 As a technical writer with the Training and Documentation team, you will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and overall excellence of the layout, writing, and production of Micron Virginia’s (MTV’s) internal technical documents such as operating, maintenance, and reaction procedures. You will create appropriate original copy consistent with professional, effective technical writing using various information-gathering methods including interviews, observations, and independent research; and write and edit sophisticated documents appropriate to a specific purpose, audience, and delivery method. You will organize and manage complex, ongoing projects, including defining production procedures; managing priorities on a daily basis; collaborating with subject matter experts, engineers, and technicians; identifying and coordinating review loops; validating information; and ensuring timely project completion. Additionally, you will assist in training entry-level and new-hire technical writers on procedures, software, standards, and other job-related functions.To be successful in this position, you must exhibit a strong command of the English language and the proper use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; mastery and consistency of use of standard proofreaders’ marks; intermediate- to advanced-level knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker and template design; and beginner- to intermediate-level knowledge of other software and applications routinely used in the creation of technical documentation such as Acrobat, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, HTML, and other products as needed. Required Education/ExperienceTo apply for this position, you must have a bachelor’s degree in English, communication, technical communication or writing, journalism, or a related writing field plus a minimum of 4 years experience OR a strong writing background (minimum of 6–8 years) relating to the specific job functions.
