Technical Writer / Trainer

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Crestron Electronics is seeking a Technical Writer/Trainer to work in our Business Projects
Department at our corporate headquarters located in Rockleigh, NJ.  The Business Projects
Department works with all departments across Crestron, as well as outside consultants and
vendors, to improve current operations through IT and process-driven change.  The role of the
Technical Writer/Trainer within the Business Projects Department is to provide employee user
manuals and training documentation.  The goal of these documents is to support internal business
processes and systems so that employees can perform their jobs as effectively as possible.

 

SKILLS

 

 

q Understanding and documenting existing technical and business processes

q Providing training support for Department Managers and Super Users

o  Develop training documentation to support the training needs of each department

o  Assisting each department with training new employees on existing systems and processes – training can be one-on-one or group training sessions

o  Creating multiple types of training-related documentation, including:  training curriculums, training manuals, user guides, maintenance manuals, programming guides, and/or quick reference guides

q Maintaining and updating training documentation, as necessary, to keep up with changes in the business

q Experience working within the standard system project lifecycle

q Experience providing training and developing documentation for SAP (or similar ERP solutions), as well as other business applications

q Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

q Ability to work independently and in a team environment

q Excellent time management skills – ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on workload or direction from management

q Strong work ethic with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

q Ability to resolve issues, meet deadlines, and escalate appropriately to management

q Proficiency using the MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

q Experience updating and maintaining information on a corporate intranet is a plus

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

q Bachelor’s Degree or higher  Minimum of 2 years of relevant documentation and training experience
