Job ID #:835 Position Title:Traction Power Maintainer Location: Houston, TX Functional Area:Transportation Department:Rail Maint Admin Employment Type:Full Time Education Required:Associates Degree Experience Required:3 - 5 Years Relocation Provided:Yes Position Description: Performs fault diagnosis, inspections, tests and adjustments as well as routine and emergency maintenance on Traction Electrification equipment, both in Substations and on the Overhead Contact Systems.

Assists in the development of inspection and preventive maintenance programs for traction power section.

Assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, safety procedures and work rules for both startup and revenue operations. Assists in MOW shop and support equipmetn set-up activities.

Assists other Rail Operations departments as necessary to insure safe and reliable service.

Performs substation fault diagnosis, inspection, testing, modification, maintenance and repair.

Performs periodic inspection and routine and emergency maintenance of the overhead contact system.

Inspects, repairs and maintains electrical and electronic equipment including switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays and programmable logic controllers.

Prioritizes emergency maintenance tasks in the absence of the on-site supervision. Position Requirements: Associates degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or successful completion of an appropriate Department of Labor accredited apprenticeship program.

Minimum four (4) years of increasingly responsible, journeylevel electrical maintenance experience. Experience with Traction Power Systems is preferred.

An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the Associate's degree. Good (oral/written) communications skills are essential.

Ability to communicate well with management, consultants and engineers to resolve maintenance issues. Must be a self-motivated and participative team member.

Must be able to perform essential tasks in inclement weather, high locations and under stressful conditions.

Possession of, or ability to quickly obtain, a Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement.
