Vice President - Logistics

Reporting to the COO of the parent company, this position is responsible for a logistics subsidiary with about 45 employees that generates $20-30 million in revenue.  The need is for a strong leader with exceptional organizational skills who has significant experience in the logistics field.  This subsidiary operates a fleet of trucks servicing a national customer base.  Third-party shippers are also used to fill in gaps in the pickup/delivery schedules.  Items scheduled for shipment are inventoried, packed, palletized, wrapped, and then loaded at customer locations.  Smaller markets are serviced through aggregating products at selected warehouses until sufficient quantities warrant a large truck.  This position is also responsible for developing a system of backhauls, which is accomplished through a group of sales reps.  An Operations Manager handles the day-do-day oversight of the business.  Operations are highly computerized with scanning technology that allows all shipments to be tracked from pickup to delivery.  A dispatch system is in place as is a system of customer routes throughout the country.  Currently, this subsidiary primarily services the customers of the parent company, with the exception of backhauls.  The need is for a bright logistics/transportation professional who has had P & L responsibility for pickup and delivery of goods in a similar environment as described herein.  We are seeking a polished and dynamic logistics executive who has a proven background in successfully managing and growing a logistics operation.  You must have a good understanding of how to price the various services, how to grow a customer base, how to fill backhauls, along with the ability to make sound strategic business decisions that positively impact the bottom line.  The parent company is a rapidly growing company that is considered to be an excellent place to work.  This position will be housed at the Corporate Headquarters of the parent company.  A four-year degree is highly preferred.  An advanced degree is a huge plus.  Resumes to jim@woodsonsearch.com
