The Position:
The Sensors & Wireless Lab is part of Honeywell’s Automation & Control Solutions business and has a strong tradition of developing Wireless Sensors, Wireless Sensor Networks and Microsystems such as uncooled infrared sensors, microbridge mass air flow sensor, gas chromatographs on a chip, and handheld point-of-care medical diagnostic instruments. In recent times the sensors lab has also done work in the area of thermally isolated nanotube structures and development of functional nanomaterials for chemical and biological sensing. In addition, the Lab is a world leader in developing robust wireless sensor networks and integration of wireless technology with sensors.
The Wireless Group Manager will be a member of the labs leadership team driving the vision, overseeing the generation of new ideas, and supporting the execution of programs in Wireless Networks including next generation routing protocols, wireless location technologies, radio and RF systems development including software defined radios, cognitive radios, UWB, various spread spectrum techniques, adaptive modulation. The group has strong capability in controls, optimization theory, signal processing, mathematics, statistics, radio hardware design, cyber and wireless security, communication theory, information theory, embedded software, and network design.
The candidate will have strong leadership experience with breadth of research experience in multi-disciplinary fields and experience in winning US government R&D contracts. In addition the manager will be responsible for: aligning the project portfolio of the group with ACS’s strategic goals for technology development, growth and revenue generation; provide reports to Labs and ACS senior leadership, drive strong program management and six sigma practices; interface with the marketing and manufacturing teams of Honeywell during all stages of the R&D process; continually improve product knowledge, market intelligence and technical skills; and support M&A activities for the various businesses.
The Wireless Group Manager will also be responsible to drive the recent trend in the Wireless Lab to accelerate the transition process of advanced technologies into new products for Honeywell. This group will work on high impact projects with tight schedules, and stringent performance requirements. Developing solid technology transition processes, aggregating task teams to execute on selected opportunities, managing risk and increasing rate of success will be a requirement of the job. This position reports to the Director of the Sensors and Wireless Laboratory.
Qualifications:PhD degree in EE or MEMinimum 5 years experience in a Leadership role US Citizen or Permanent Resident requiredSolid foundation and technical understanding of Wireless Networks Systems and Wireless System Networks.Demonstrated ability to bring complex systems to market, moving them from concept all the way to production a plus.Ability to identify strategic opportunities and use sound decision making to translate opportunities into value added work for Honeywell.
