We are seeking a Supervisor Applications to join the staff at our Carneys Point, New Jersey location. In this role, you will:
· Perform leadership duties of a first-line supervisor to make optimum utilization of employees, equipment, and material.
· Supervise and coordinate the work of others.
· Use interpersonal influence and communication to guide team towards attainment of goals.
· Usually reports to a manager.
· Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of IT principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
· Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
· Require the use of advanced techniques and theories, precepts and practices of his/her field and related disciplines. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience and increasing levels of responsibilities.
· Represent the department to resolve important issues, as well as, to plan and coordinate work with other departments.
· Have regular contact with business areas and IT personnel.
· Maintain liaison with individuals and units within or outside his/her higher organization.
· Make decisions independently.
POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinate work between organizational segments.
· Communicate Company policies and practices. Promotes two-way communications with employees and resolves employee concerns using appropriate corporate resources.
· Ensure safekeeping of materials, tools, and equipment.
· Assign work.
· Ensure appropriate training for subordinates is accomplished.
· Explain work procedures and solves work problems.
· Communicate corporate policies and practices to employees, and insure compliance.
· Control quality, quantity and promptness of work performed as measured against accepted standards.
· Administer disciplinary measures.
· Recommend improvements and modifications to organization, procedures, policies, standards, specifications, processes and tools within area of supervision.
· Conduct and completes fair and accurate Performance Appraisals at regularly scheduled times.
· Conduct coaching in a positive and productive manner.
· Assist employees with the development of their career goals.
· Seek opportunities to provide appropriate recognition.
· Counsel employees concerning work problems and productivity.
· Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets.
· Conduct structured interviews with prospective employees.
· Recommend hiring and promotions.
Required:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
· Experience demonstrating skill adhering to and ensuring compliance with Applications Development Life Cycle standards and IT documentation standards.
· Experience assisting with translating clients' enhancement requests and/or problem resolution requests into technical specifications.
· Experience demonstrating skill analyzing data to support problem resolution, information requests and/or trend analysis.
· Experience demonstrating skill managing multiple concurrent projects to include assisting with preparing time/manpower estimates and planning resource utilization for assignments.
· Experience demonstrating skill communicating with clients and/or vendors orally and in writing (e.g., to create reports, resolve problems, and clarify system objectives).
· Experience demonstrating skill leading teams to include planning, coordinating, and prioritizing work.
· Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word-processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
· Ability and willingness to work extended hours or modified schedule, including being on call, working evenings, holidays and weekends, and emergency work as required.
· Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations on occasional basis.
· Must pass First Line Supervisory Assessment.
· Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Preferred:
· Experience demonstrating skill supervising others to include conducting performance appraisals and/or coaching/providing feedback.
· Experience demonstrating skill acting as a technical and/or functional expert to business areas and/or other IT applications teams.
· Knowledge of client/server and/or web based development applications, languages, environments and/or tools (for example, Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, JAVA, .NET, XML, HTML, DB2, MS Access, VB6, Crystal Reports, MQ, Web Services, IIS, and/or Sourcesafe).
· Knowledge of the core systems and applications used in customer care (e.g., CIS, C3, load settlement applications, meter reading applications).
· Knowledge of the Outage Management System.
· Experience demonstrating skill performing root cause analysis to investigate and troubleshoot application or system issues.
· Experience demonstrating skill adhering to and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards.
· Experience demonstrating skill preparing and delivering presentations and/or client training.
· Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based presentation and/or project management software.
