Job ID: 14571Location: Union, NJDepartment: 0446-Customer Development - ETGEducation Required: Bachelors DegreeExperience Required: 1 - 3 YearsPosition Description: Basic Function:Sells, promotes, and markets natural gas services to residential and commercial commercials in order to maximize sales and revenue for AGL ResourcesRepresentative Duties and Responsibilities:• Sells to prospective customers to promote the benefits of natural gas; promotes multiple burner tips.• Obtains customer requests for residential and/or commercial gas projects; gathers information necessary to start sales process for project (e.g., engineering scaled site plans, plat information, customer needs and/or requests); enters and maintains information into database (referred to as 811/911 database and 811/911 forms); ensures all information is collected and entered into the database for the next phase (Engineering or Construction Operations).• Explains DCQ (Demand Charge Quantity) calculations to customers during sales process. • Provides daily sales tracking sheet and monthly tracking reports to Sales management for compilation into a monthly departmental report.• Attends sales meetings and participates in bi-weekly conference calls.• Attends Trade Association meetings; builds and maintains working relationships with residential and commercial customers• Meets or exceeds territory and/or customer goals.• Ensure that compliance with all engineering principles, gas operating standards, local code, state and federal rules, regulations, mandates and statutes is maintained by preparing and/or revising designs as necessary for all gas facilities installed• Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by responding to customer needs, keeping customers informed and ensuring work is scheduled in an effective manner for the mutual benefit of customer and company• Promote the use of natural gas by communicating the benefits to the Company's existing and potential clients• Coordinate the many activities necessary to bring customers on line, including the frequently conflicting schedules of construction, operations, contractors and municipalities• Represent the Company at meetings by communicating Company policy, procedure and other information relative to the gas industry• Perform other reasonable essential functions as assigned• Perform 811/911 tasks: plat redlines, gas load, rough proposal drawings, cost estimating, etc.• Review and obtain contracts and customer contributions and notify internal contacts • Process gas-availability requests• Contact/meet with customer as necessary, including discussions regarding AGL’s process and timeframesDesign & Mapping Responsibilities• Design and draw proposals, including cost estimating and routing to various AGL departments• Coordinate construction with various AGL departments and external contractorsDisclaimer: This information describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this job. Experiences should include customer service, understanding gas and construction operations, and rates and regulation.Preferred:• 2-3 years sales experienceSkills:Required:• Ability to effectively sell, listen, and communicate with customers• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently• Organizational skills• Negotiation skills • Demonstrated ability to draw using Turbo CAD• Computer literacy - intermediate proficiency• 2 year degree in related field and 3 years work-related experience in sales, GIS, and/or construction OR 5 years work-related experience in sales, GIS, and/or construction• GIS and/or CADD experience (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation preferred) and strong mathematical aptitude• Must be proficient in use of PC and multiple mainframe and software programs, including MS Office, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint• Knowledge of city and state building and land regulations• Extensive knowledge of natural gas distribution system facilities, including the OPM and Construction Manuals• Excellent interpersonal communication skills• Ability to read, interpret and apply engineering and architectural plansPreferred:• Project management and experience preferredCertifications/Licenses:Preferred:• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportationAGLR Success Factors:Executing for Results Collaboration and Building RelationshipsLearning and Thinking Industry Knowledge/Business AcumenWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements:• Perform field work tasks year round• Safety sensitive• Travel/Driving to meet with customers (in-town)• Frequently meet with contractors at construction sites with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, atmospheric conditions such as dust, dampness, humidity• Keyboarding – up to 25% of time.
