Responsible for timely and accurate collection of invoices, payment of remittances, and detailed settlement analysis pertaining to TXU PM’s wholesale business. Other duties include the actualization of pipeline volumes, payment of transportation invoices, the reconciliation of assigned counterparty accounts, and the preparation of journal entries as required by assigned duties. Department supporting duties include responding to internal and external data requests with supervision from the department manager and team lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties may be assigned, but will include the following.
In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:
• Provide service to assigned TXU PM’s wholesale gas accounting department internal and external clients
• Be responsible for the actualization of assigned pipeline volumes, providing support to ensure timely and accurate billing and payment processes;
• Be primarily responsible for resolution of any assigned pipeline volume issues with traders, schedulers or third parties pipes.
• Balance assigned pipelines and interconnects with a goal to eliminate Unaccounted for Gas volumes;
• Prepare payment support documents for purchases and sales according to established procedures which ensure adherence to key accounting controls
• Reconcile Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables by counterparty to ensure accounting records accurately reflect TXU PM’s business;
• Complete special projects as assigned and under the supervision of the department manager or team lead
• Perform duties specific to the Ercot trading business to support the payment processes.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
The minimum education requirements are:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
The minimum experience requirements are:
• Basic knowledge of the financial closing process and monthly/quarterly cycles
• Possesses general knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, codes, standards and current technologies
• Basic understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Excel, Word and PowerPoint application skills
Preferred education and experience requirements:
• Experience or exposure to demands and accountabilities of the accounting and finance area
• Good communication skills (listening and speaking)
• Experience with journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation and analysis
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet functionality.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
• Occasional long, irregular hours.
• Use of a PC, computer terminal and/or telephone over 8 hours a day.
