Acct/Fin Analyst III - MLP Accountant, Houston TX

Organizational Statement Enbridge Energy Company, Inc, a leader in crude and natural gas transportation, gathering, and processing has an immediate opening for an accountant in our Houston, TX office. The primary focus will be the completion of the accounting close process of various partnership entities including equity pick up and distribution calculations, incentive income calculations and FAS 133 activity. This position is responsible for analyzing and reviewing equity account reconciliations, so candidate must clearly understand the activity within the equity accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Preparation of financial reports for management and third party agencies, as well as, operating cost variance analysis reports.Responsibilities Prepare and process monthly journal entries and respond to inquiries regarding specific accounts. Record various income and expense accrualsRecord treasury activity to the ledgerEquity income transactions (equity pick-up, OCI equity pick-up)Investment accounting / dividends (unit issuances/distributions, dilution gains/losses)Debt transactions (demand loans, commercial paper, credit facility)FAS 133 ¿ interest rate swapsProvide quarterly deliverables to Tax Balance sheet account analysisOperating cost analysis ¿ Budget vs. Actual vs. Last Year vs. QuarterTrial Balance review / sign-offPBC preparation for external auditorsPrepare monthly B/S and intercompany reconciliationsMonthly/Quarterly settlement of I/C and affiliate accountsMonitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company proceduresPrepares, investigates, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reportsAssist in the preparation of reports that are filed with various governmental agencies and other external groupsQualifications 4 year university degree in accounting 3-5 years or more of related experiencePublic accounting and financial reporting experience desiredSelf starter with strong problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong oral and written communication skills a mustWorking knowledge of Oracle and MS Office a plusEqual Employment Opportunity We appreciate your interest in Enbridge Energy Company, Inc.
