About the Opportunity This Advanced/Senior Engineer, located in Akron, OH will support and sustain Energy Delivery and Customer Service (ED & CS)as a high performing, results oriented organization by providing strategic support of the business plan initiative process. This position is responsible for providing overall direction for the successful implementation of the ED & CS Business Plan Initiatives. This will involve monthly interaction with all initiative owners and sponsors to fully understand, assess and validate the status of each of the 80+ initiatives. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing feedback to ensure the approach and progress of implementation is meeting the intent of the initiative. Provide updates to the ED&CS Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on implementation progress, successes and hurdles. Principle Accountabilities: >Develop and implement enhancements to the initiative creation and monitoring process >Develop full understanding of the 2008-12 business plan objectives and participate in the development of future ED&CS Business Plans >Develop a full understanding of the intent, scope and schedule of all 80+ initiatives and how they support achieving the 5 year business plan objectives >Interact with initiative owners to understand and validate status on all business plan initiatives >Provide technical and business direction to initiative owners with respect to the scope, deliverables and progress >Conduct monthly status update reviews on all active initiatives >Provide a comprehensive report to the members of ELT based on the monthly status reports and supporting validation to confirm findings >Coordinate the quarterly initiative presentations to the leadership team >Educate new owners on the preparation of the charter documents used to define projects and associated deliverables as well as the approval process, and the monitoring and reporting process. >Provide support and direction to initiative owner in regards to all aspects of the initiative process. This will require various onsite visits. >Maintain the central repository of charter documents and monthly status reports >Develop process to monitor, update and report the status of ED&CS wide action items >Conduct monthly reviews with action item owners and report status to the ELT

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline

Demonstrated accomplishments in promoting a culture of execution & accountability; driving programs/assignments to completion

Travel to FirstEnergy regions and other locations will be required. Overall, travel is approximately 30% on average.
