Position Overview: Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of an Analyzer Specialist/Engineer in El Segundo, CA.Qualifications:Key Responsibilities: • Provide analyzer designs support for routine daily operation of process units• Prepare analyzer work scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation • Troubleshoot analyzer problems & issues, develop alternatives, and propose & implement solutions for long-term reliability• Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, & develop design procedures and provide training• Carry out studies to improve plant safety, reliability, & economics• Provide design analysis & evaluation of analyzer portion of major capital projects• Manage, design & execute analyzer-related capital projects• Document & manage information related to analyzer systems & equipment• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, & Building codes as required by Federal, State, Local, & Refinery regulationsRequired (basic) Qualifications:GENERAL: • A minimum of 5+ years of field analyzer systems design experience• A solid understanding of refinery/ chemical processes & equipment and the interaction between refinery units• Ability to work periodic overtime in order to cover special needs• Ability to travel on an as needed basis• Authorization to legally work in the US without any sponsorship• Traditional or 9/80 work schedule is availableATTENDANCE/SAFETY: Lost time record due to illness/injury must be less than 48 hours or 2% over the past 2 years with no more than 1 recordable injury in the past 5 years; mitigating circumstances will be considered. TECHNICAL: • Strong knowledge of process analyzers, including their application, design, communication protocols and wiring methods• Specify, purchase, install, commission & troubleshoot analyzers & their sample systems• Design & application of environmental & process control analyzer systems• Ability to read, understand & develop drawings including P&IDs, schematics and connection diagrams • Develop design standards, procedures and training materials• Evaluate & select suppliers for specific analyzer applications PROJECT MANAGEMENT: • Lead & manage overall design & construction of projects including management of project team to best utilize labor• Use estimating tools & cost control measures to budget & monitor approved funds• Assemble work packages to ensure safe execution of construction work• Monitor projects & workloads to meet deadlines & schedulesCOMMUNICATION: • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal• Ability to listen & properly regard input from all team members & stakeholders• Ability to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups• Ability to facilitate meetings of cross-functional teams• Ability to teach/mentor othersTEAMWORK: • Ability to Interface effectively with Operators, Mechanics, Vendors, Contractors, Management & other groups to meet business objectives• Ability to foster cooperation & collaboration among individuals in a work group• Ability to help teams resolve conflicts constructivelyCOMPUTER SKILLS: • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs to efficiently & effectively convey information• Ability to use engineering software to monitor analyzer performance• Ability to perform design calculations as requiredINITIATIVE: • Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously• Ability to balance day-to-day support issues with longer term projects• Ability to identify potential opportunities & work them to completion• Ability to set priorities & execute work with minimal direct supervision Preferred Qualifications:• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering related discipline is preferred, however actual hands-on industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree• Experience with turnaround planning and capital project work• Experience with instrument design database softwareRelocation Options:Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.EOE M/F/D/V Learn more about Chevron Location:US-CA-El Segundo Status:Full Time, Employee Job Category:Engineering
