About the Opportunity This Corporate Asset Management Underground Distribution Engineer will have broad based expertise in underground distribution and network assets. Primary accountabilities include developing asset management strategy, evaluating and instituting best practices, creating and implementing asset health manuals, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This individual supports regional organizations with root cause analysis, training and analysis of equipment data trends. The ideal candidate will support and sustain FirstEnergy as a high performing organization by contributing to excellent organizational performance and customer service, while conributing to the vision, mission and values of FirstEnergy through responsible and effective work performance. Principal accountabilities as follows: Develop Asset Management Strategy, Best Practices, and Asset Health Manuals as related to underground distribution assets – Underground conductors, Ducted Systems, Vaults, Manholes, equipment, underground transformers, switchgear, network protectors, and other underground distribution or network equipment. Review and apply industry standards to asset management process and methodology. Assist in root-cause analyses of complex equipment failures and ensure that equipment failure analysis is performed timely and consistently. Determine and implement system wide equipment replacement strategies. Work with Regional Asset Management in developing comprehensive asset scorecards incorporating asset utilization, performance and maintenance history and operating data. Analyze circuit health scorecards to determine and track performance of underground distribution circuit and network assets and impact on Energy Delivery T&D system performance. Conduct audits of existing underground and network circuit configurations and equipment to determine opportunities for improvements in design, operational flexibility and reliability. Document and present opportunities for design, operational, and maintenance improvements. Facilitate discussions with Substation Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and other stakeholders. Develop circuit health inspection methodology and tracking forms. Review and ensure that Operating Company programs are in compliance with all state mandated PUC requirements. Track system wide cable failures based on number of circuit miles, age and type of cables impacted, methodology for repair and restoration, and replacement strategies. Review appropriate levels for capital budgeting for cable and equipment replacements. Analyze network system retirement or replacement strategies and the impact on customer reliability and ability for Operating Companies to maintain the systems. Review and monitor manhole and vault inspection programs. Track and monitor age and condition of system wide assets. Investigate advanced diagnosis technologies or testing methods to allow for predictive failure analysi

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Professional engineering certification preferred.

Strong analytical skills demonstrated through progressive assignments and projects.

In-depth knowledge of electrical utility Transmission and Distribution system design, operational requirements, safety and customer requirements.

Familiarity with regulatory issues and environmental landscape.

Persuasive and professional in verbal and written communications with multiple constituencies including employees, customers and other stakeholders. Communicate complexities to individuals.

Experience in creating and delivering presentations.

Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Travel to FirstEnergy regions and other locations will be required. Overall, travel is approximately 30% on average.

Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
