Assistant Engineer

The Assistant Engineer will conduct studies, analyze results, and develop recommendations for review by the Environmental Engineer and the Director, Regional Planning and Coordination. The key duties will support the annual Regional System Plan, Interregional Planning and Coordination, and Environmental Engineering. Responsibilities include: Supporting environmental planning activities by assisting with the identification, evaluation and analysis of the implications of existing regulations and new regulations under consideration. Access and support databases. Assisting with project management and contributing to major studies, such as the Regional System Plan, The Northeast Coordinated System Plan, and Scenario Analysis. Updating planning processes through the review and issuance of draft procedures and business practices for approval by relevant Supervisor/Manager/Director. Assisting with the formulation of policy by providing technical support for ISO FERC filings and state governmental processes, including support for the licensure of transmission projects and comments on environmental issues.

Requirements include: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power systems and control or demonstrated skills in environmental issues. Experience and/or undergraduate or graduate coursework in the field of environmental engineering or electric power systems operation, modeling, assessment or planning. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities. Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite. Ability to work in a team environment and with individuals at all levels. Desirable qualities include: Master's degree in Power Engineering or a related field. Passing the Engineer in Training (first part of the Professional Engineer's licensing examination) is beneficial, but not required. Membership in IEEE
