BUSINESS DEVELOPER

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The position will assist the Manager of Development with identifying, structuring, negotiating and closing transactions.  The position will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and creating value in structuring development transactions.  This high visibility role will be attractive to analytic, energetic, innovative, results-oriented individuals with quick and inquisitive minds.  A strong candidate should possess a broad range of financial and commercial skills, be capable of managing the details of complex transactions, have the ability to work within a team-oriented environment in rapidly evolving markets, and be able to juggle multiple assignments.  Additional technical skills including familiarity with heat and material balances, water balances, electrical one-line diagrams, and power generation and utility equipment considered a plus.

 

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



 

·  Identifies new business opportunities across the On-site Energy business unit.

·  Evaluates all development opportunities, distill complex transactions into their essential elements, and identify value-creation opportunities and business structures

·  Communicates results of analysis to senior management and/or customers

·  Negotiates with counterparties to successfully structure development transactions

·  Performs all other related duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, business or economics discipline required, emphasis in finance a plus with a minimum five years experience with an independent energy company, or alternatively, a consulting firm on energy preferred, to provide for the following:

 

§ The candidate must have a commercial background and be familiar with all aspects of power plant operations/economics.  Further, the candidate should be experienced in structuring commercial transactions in the energy industry and in negotiations of the related commercial and financial agreements

§ Broad range of financial and commercial skills, proven analytical ability to distill complex transactions into their essential elements, and  in identifying value in acquisitions and crafting agreements that meet the objectives of all counterparties

 § Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate complex transactions to senior management.

§ Additional technical skills including familiarity with heat and material balances, water balances, electrical one-line diagrams, and power generation and utility equipment considered a plus.

§ Ability to take initiative and be persistent in accomplishing tasks

§ Ability to juggle multiple assignments

§ Team player, ability to lead and/or work with large groups, and ability to influence others to get results

§ Willingness to travel as necessary

§ Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation and development)

§ Use of MS Office products mandatory – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

§ Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with customers at both corporate management and plant management levels

§ Ability to work in team environment to develop proposals and present to customers
