Billing Systems Analyst

The Billing Systems Analyst is responsible for taking complete ownership and responsibility of all aspects of customer billing exceptions and reconciliation. This person will ensure that adequate controls are in place in order to mitigate risk to the business and billing best practices are incorporated.

Major Duties -
Work customer transaction exceptions between Nicor Gas and Prime (i.e. rejected charges and payments, unconfirmed charges, 13th charge, etc). Reconcile customer contracts between Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, and Prime for both Nicor Solutions and Nicor Advanced Energy.

Troubleshoot exception issues. Assist programmers with system bugs and other system support issues related to transaction exceptions, and determine appropriate resolutions to restore program and data quality.

Establish new processes, standards, and audit controls when launching with new billing partners.

Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures related to reconciliation and transaction exceptions for each billing partner with Nicor Services, Nicor Solutions, and Nicor Advanced Energy.

Educational Background/Special Skills:
**Bachelor's degree or 3-6 years of equivalent applicable business experience required

• Strong sense of ownership, responsibility and diligence
• Strong ability to multi-task; recognize the urgency of particular work and prioritize appropriately
• Perform research independently and exercise good judgment in making decisions
• Able to discuss problems, analyze and formulate solutions equally with a range of business, non-technical users, and technical users and developers
• Sensitivity when dealing with other departments or individuals with varying agendas, priorities, and timelines
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Access)
• Excellent organization, facilitation and written and oral communication skills

**The Billing Systems Analyst job requirements and responsibilities require a strong ability to recognize customer impact resulting from billing exceptions, quickly resolve those exceptions and potential issues, and take necessary measures to prevent them in the future.

**The Billing Systems Analyst will rely on the Billing Supervisor to make policy or decisions on other high level strategic issues. The person in this position will have the authority to make decisions on general operational and compliance requirements as it relates to existing and new program(s) and products. In addition, this person is expected to incorporate best practices into the current billing related operations.
