The Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company is accepting online applications for the position of Block 14 Reservoir Simulation Engineer, located in Houston, Texas.Overview:The successful candidate will be assigned to the Block 14 New Field Development Group in the Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit (SASBU). The New Field Development (NFD) group is responsible for several deep-water Angola projects in Block 14, both light and heavy oil. These prospects are located in multiple channel reservoirs. The NFD group is a cross-functional and multi-national group of earth scientists and reservoir engineers, having principal functions which include developing drilling programs to appraise/develop new fields.This assignment is a great opportunity to contribute to several new field projects, work on interesting deepwater turbidite reservoirs, and interact with Angolan nationals and a diverse group of partners. Travel to Luanda, Angola is expected for 2 to 4 partner meetings each year.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Build, run and calibrate simulation models to determine probabilistic assessment of recovery of deep-water channel reservoirs in Lucapa and Gabela Fields in Block 14, Angola.• Optimize field development scenarios and wells.• Work with multi-functional teams to move assets from CPDEP Phase 1 to 3.• Use probabilistic techniques, such as experimental designs, to generate production profiles and recovery factors.• Provide subsurface uncertainty management planning, DST test design and recommendations, and integrated production modeling using IPM software.• Develop strong working relationship with the Block 14 modeling/simulation community, as well as with subsurface team members in Houston and Luanda.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering.• A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.• Diverse petroleum engineering background, along with reservoir simulation experience (as it is a key job responsibility).• Experience with experimental design probabilistic forecasting techniques.• Solid understanding of project management concepts.• Experience with developing objectives and work plans for a team.• The ability to work with diverse functions and nationalities, along with the ability to build team consensus and ownership in interpretations.• Experience as a company representative in joint venture partner meetings and workshops, as well as achieving stakeholder alignment on various aspects of well design, planning and operations.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in new field development plans.• An understanding of business drivers, including project and economics.• Experience in performing reservoir and project risk assessments and decision analysis.• Prior deepwater experience.Relocation Options:Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.EOE M/F/D/V Learn more about Chevron Location:US-TX-Houston Status:Full Time, Employee Job Category:Engineering
