Chevron Global Downstream is accepting online applications for the position of Business Analyst located in Houston, Texas through May 20, 2008.Overview:This position will be part of the Project Management Office (PMO) which provides Project Management and Business Analysis support for a wide and varied portfolio of Trading, Supply, and Risk projects for Global Supply and Trading. Responsibilities include collaborating with customers, gathering and modeling business data, business processes, and other business rules in order to ensure alternatives have been carefully considered and that the chosen solution meets business objectives. The position also requires applying the appropriate business analysis tools and methods as needed and providing business analysis support for projects and business process improvement initiatives. This position will work with multiple groups within Global Supply and Trading (GS & T) at various levels within the organization on project initiatives. Must be ‘quick study’ with the ability to grasp new business processes and assess needs. Ability to work from a high to low level of detail is required. Organizational skills, communication and excellent customer relationship management skills are vital. Experience in a Supply and Trading business unit or implementing a Trading system is essential.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:IT Consultant:• Facilitates the process to define information needs and translates those needs into system development, enhancement opportunities, or process changes.• Works with the business to gather, understand and document information requirements.• Identifies, researches and qualifies new technologies and opportunities where technology can improve the business• Create the solution functionality roadmap to lay a foundation for planned future enhancements to further improve the supply and trading planning processesIT Project and Process Management:• Develops functional specifications to meet project and business needs.• Leads the effort to clearly capture and articulate business needs and specifications to communicate to s/w developers• Leads and manages the complete development and delivery of project solutions each step of the way• Participates in and may lead efforts in quality assurance and acceptance testing of maintenance, enhancements and new systems. • Makes certain that adequate training and documentation are delivered with any project. • Acts as a liaison with the business unit and technical and IT support staff(s) whether internal or vendors.Key Business Unit Contact:• Fosters relationships with business unit stakeholders to better understand how Information Technology can be used to support their needs.• Communicates IT priorities, tasks and demand for services. Seeks to resolve conflicts where they exist.• Takes ownership of the business units IT issues until resolution.Key IT Provider Contact:• Fosters relationships with IT application developers and infrastructure support personnel.• Seeks to understand provider capabilities, initiatives and priorities that may impact the business unit. Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Experience in a Supply and Trading business unit or implementing a Trading system.• Ability to grasp new business processes and assess needs.• Strong organizational skills.
