Chevron International Exploration and Production Company is accepting online applications for the position of Category Specialist for our Global Drilling & Completions Team located in Houston, Texas.Overview:The Category Specialist is responsible for contracting activities in support of Global Drilling and Completions (GD&C) Rigs Category initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, rig contracts, International Master Agreements (IMA), Memorandum of Understandings (MOU), Master Service Agreements (MSA), Rig-Sharing Agreements, Service Contracts, as well as assisting Business Units as required. The Category Specialist is also involved in rig sourcing efforts, market outlook and forecasting, advanced supplier relationship building, strategy development, and developing and writing standards for GD&C. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:Contract Development, Analysis, Negotiation and Approval• Makes recommendations to management regarding complex contractual and commercial opportunities to satisfy business unit rig demands.• Negotiates drilling rig contracts (commercial, legal, and operational).• Prepares contracts, amendments, assignment, etc., in conjunction with Legal department.• Coordinates contract approvals internally and with joint venture partners.• Coordinates the contract execution process.• Coordinates with Deepwater & Complex Wells team, Strategic Business Units, and other D&C Category Managers to ensure contracts are effectively in place. Category Management• Supports Rig Category Manager in development Global Category Plans.• Liaisons with business units to assist with fostering & developing Cross Business Units Rigs Category Group.Market Outlook • Liaisons with other operators, drilling contractors, and third party consultants to gather and synthesize market intelligence.Standards• In partnership with Procurement, Strategic Business Units (SBU), and GD&C.• Writes standards for GD&C that incorporate best practices from Chevron. • Works with SBUs to communicate and implement these contracting standards.Project Management• Assists and advises on Major Capital Projects as required in each Chevron Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP) phase. Employee Development• Mentors Contract Analysts and other Development positionsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:• Category Management experience.• Category Management teaching/facilitation experience. • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or Law. • 15-20 years total industry experience.• 10 years relevant experience in contracts, commercial evaluations / negotiations and/or law.
