Chemical Engineer Principal or Staff Level Position
OVERVIEW:
Provide expert professional engineering service and support through technical assessment of engineering studies, design reviews, and literature reviews. Performs relatively complex studies and through the conduct of sophisticated analyses, provides recommendations for improvement at all SPR generating stations, in business development activities, regulatory compliance, and contract terms. Provides technical guidance to plant staff, division managers and engineers.
Prepares designs, process procedures, and evaluations using sophisticated and complex analysis tools and methods. Identifies potential schedule or quality problems and initiates corrective actions. Provides leadership to other technically subordinate positions.
Assesses long and short-term plant spending impact on generation facilities which may include budgetary engineering estimates, economic, and risk analysis. Prepares spending recommendations and procurement specifications which optimize production.
Provide outage and routine maintenance support requiring specialized expertise for maintenance and repair methods, planning, parts/service and procurement recommendations for chemical treatment processes and techniques with respect to major plant equipment. Provides technical oversight for major plant water treatment, waste handling, and emissions control equipment utilizing best in class methods.
Provides recommendations for and implements objectives for maintaining and improving plant reliability, safety, and environmental permit compliance; applying cost effective solutions that aid in achieving generation performance goals through the application of state of the art technology, in materials, controls, and condition assessment techniques.
Effectively complies with and utilizes all applicable government agencies’ laws and regulations pertinent to assigned duties and responsibilities.
Complies with Company, Generation and Safety Departments operating policies and procedures and effectively utilizes them to complete work assignments.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Practices excellent computer and communication skills and have a demonstrated versatility with MS Office applications, including MS Project. Posesses a demonstrated ability to use or develop equipment analysis models and tools.
2) Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field preferred. Prefer 8 - 10 years experience in related field. Knowledge and ability to apply discipline engineering principles, practices, theories and methods to solve relatively complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses. Advanced knowledge of design requirements and relative discipline principles. Ability to apply advanced techniques and communicate/guide others in their application.
3) Must have significant expertise in electric power generation water treatment, waste and emissions treatment, and materials failure analysis.
4) Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with management, employees and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines, ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing or walking, manual dexterity and mobility to use computer, access all areas of the properties and have the ability to attend company business in Las Vegas or other jurisdictions.
5) Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to qualify. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. - cannot sponsor H1-B Visa.
