About the Opportunity The Circuit Reliability Coordinator's (CRC) responsibility is to prepare and submit to upper management a multi-year cost justified circuit reliability improvement plan. For each proposed project, a cost benefit analysis will be prepared to clearly articulate the risk avoidance in terms of SAIDI, CAIDI, SAIFI improvement versus the capital requested. The CRC will be responsible to present a plan that drives the reliability of each circuit that he/she is responsible for to industry top quartile reliability. The foundation of the circuit reliability improvement plan will be a complete documented understanding of the health of each circuit. Some of the existing sources of circuit conditions are outage management systems, circuit inspections, reliability studies, planning studies, preferred practice inspections, Osmose pole inspections, trouble shooter reports, CREWS reports, linemen identified issues, line supervisors, managers, directors, and the overall collective wisdom of the organization. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Implement the corporate asset health assessment standards for assigned equipment within the region. This will typically entail a geographic area containing approximately 35 substations and 100-plus distribution circuits. Perform distribution circuit and substation reviews to identify reliability issues Track preventative and corrective maintenance inspections performed within substations and perform assessments to identify reliability issues Develop reliability improvement project proposals to support the 5 year planning horizon Track and evaluate the actual results of each installed project. Quantify variances between assumed and actual benefit results. Provide input for the project prioritization model Work closely with the engineering planning personnel to fully understand the effects of capacity upgrade projects Participate in the development and updating of the asset health assessment standards Track equipment failures to ensure root cause assessments are performed and to the appropriate level of detail per established practices. Track implementation of Root Cause Analysis corrective actions Maintain a current understanding of the performance of each assigned circuit or substation through regular reviews of performance history. This will include a daily review of equipment failures and outages affecting assigned circuits. Consult with management regarding status of system Actively participate in region storm restoration process.
Qualifications
An electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology degree from an accredited 2 or 4 year school is required.
Must be willing to work extra hours and travel as required.
A working knowledge of distribution, substation and subtransmission construction, operations and maintenance practices is a plus.
Must work and drive safely. Job entails use of personal vehicle to perform circuit and equipment health assessments, which can total up to 50% of standard work day.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Familiarity with standard office computer software (Microsoft Office applications and Lotus Notes) and the ability to learn other software applications specific to the needs of the position (GIS Design, CREWS, PowerOn, SAP, Hyperion, etc) is required.
Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to interface with customers, the general public, and co-workers in a tactful, courteous manner.
Familiarity with regulatory and environmental landscape.
