Cogeneration Plant Technician

We are currently seeking a Cogeneration Plant Technician for the University of Redlands, CA.  The technician will monitor and maintain the general plant for the Energy Center at the University.  This includes a 1,500 kilowatt cogeneration plant with natural gas driven reciprocating engine, electrical generator, hot water absorber chiller, and two portable and seven in-place generators on campus.MAJOR ACTIVITIES: • Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment and systems in the Energy Center.  • Performs daily and hourly readings on Engine, generator, chiller, and auxiliary equipment. • Schedules periodic maintenance; makes frequent inspection of engine, generator, and chiller components parts. • Reads gauges, electronic testing equipment and instruments makes log entries of technical data to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, maintains document records. • Maintains equipment inventory, ordering parts, supplies, materials, lubricants as needed. • Collects water samples, adds chemicals to tower and chilled water system. • Adheres to all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures. • Contributes to Team Effort by accomplishing related duties as needed. • Perform maintenance and repair on other University facilities KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: • Ability to read and understand P & I D’s and Electrical Schematics. • Possess considerable knowledge of all preventative maintenance practices per OSHA/CAL OSHA/ EPA rules and regulation and the AQMD regarding emissions; and all safety rules and regulations. • Must be able to work independently and possess good troubleshooting skills.  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills; good organizational skills • Able to interpret and apply a variety of rules, regulations and procedures; read and understand technical manuals, be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty and staff.   QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or the equivalent of 3 to 5 years experience in process and operations • Requires the physical agility to perform the required duties in a safe and productive manner, • Must be able to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment and to be able to work at various heights.  • Must possess a valid CA driver's license (or the ability to get one within 3 months of moving to state)Please apply online via the company website or by clicking on the link below:  http://tbe.taleo.net/NA2/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=SYSKA&cws=1&rid=19
