  Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling Engineer

 

Summary of Position: Reports to the Manager of Fuel Equipment Design. Handle contract and product development responsibilities related to Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modeling. Support the development and integration of air pollution control systems for coal fired and bio-mass power stations. Equipment to be analyzed will primarily include low NOx burners, overfire air and furnace systems as well as SCR and SO2 scrubber systems. Develop proposals, interface with clients, project execution and reporting. Support sales, proposals and marketing to promote and increase sales of CFD modeling capability.

 

Essential Functions:

 Maintain a high standard of work quality. Execute contract and product development work by performing the Engineering support responsibilities for CFD modeling within budget and schedule. Provide technical support to other departments in the preparation of proposals involving CFD modeling. Assist in special projects and other development activities on low NOx related products by using CFD modeling. Develop man-hour estimates for proposals. Assist Engineering with solving field related problems through the use of CFD modeling. Follow all ISO Work Instructions for FED Engineering. Attend technical conferences and present technical papers. Support Sales and Proposals with technical presentations of the CFD modeling

Job Qualifications:PhD or Masters in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on fluid flow and thermal analysis (preferred).Bachelor in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with experience and/or emphasis on power generation industry will be considered. Foundation in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, reaction and combustion. Three (3) to Five (5) years experience in CFD modeling, preferably applied to industrial problems. Working knowledge of low NOx burners and other environmental emissions control equipment. Must be proficient in CFD modeling, good knowledge of Fluent software. Must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision. Minor travel will be required. Good oral and written communication skills a must.
