Control Systems Engineer

It all starts here, with you.NOTE: This position can be filled at either Engineer I, II or III depending on candidates skills and experience.Develop, design, analyze, evaluate and recommend automation and control systems to ensure efficient, safe and profitable facility and pipeline operations.RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:1) design, develop and program software for real time programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed process control systems (DCS)2) design and develop graphical user screens utilized within human machine interfaces (HMI's)3) design and configure control communication networks 4) configure desktop operator workstations5) design process control flow diagrams6) design piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)7) procure control instrumentation and digital process control equipment8) develop specifications for instrumentation, electrical power requirements, hazardous location electronic control equipment9) develop material requisitions; review bids for equipment and service contracts10) design digital electronic control panel drawings for placement in hazardous location11) coordinate and manage projects; coordinate control system start-up and commissioning12) support, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic and pneumatic control systems13) provide time and costs estimates for automation projects14) evaluate development costs, review software and drawings, consult with vendors and users, and recommend 15) contracting or internal development; coordinate efforts of system/vendor personnel during implementation16) develop technical documentation, training manuals, and standard operating procedures; conduct training classes for system users.Qualifications1) undergraduate degree in engineering2) knowledge of engineering principles, standards and practices3) ability to plan, organize, and schedule work independently4) ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with internal and external customersPrefer:1) degree Electrical engineering 2) three years progressive experience with digital process controllers, instrumentation and computer systems3) demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of programming, analysis, and design4) ability to do real time process software programming (DCS / PLC)5) knowledge of desktop software configuration, and networking/communications6) knowledge of natural gas equipment and components: engines, turbines, electric motors, compressors, and valve operations7) knowledge of National Electric Code, hazardous area classification, transmitters, RTD's, thermocouples, solenoids, switches, Ethernet, and graphical displays.
Required: Bachelors in Engineering Prefer:  degree in Electrical Engineering

Working Conditions:
1) may be subject to dust, debris and high noise levels, extreme temperatures and weather conditions during site visits or construction; may be subject to hazards, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and exposure to solvents, lubricants and other chemicals during site visits2) travel is required; typically less than 40%, but may be extensive at times3) operate with minimal supervision4) on call 24-hours a day - 7 days a week (rotating call shared with others in department)5) safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing; pre-transfer drug test will be required for successful candidate not currently in a safety-sensitive position6) must possess a valid driver's license

Certification and Other Qualifications:
PE license can be substituted for a 4-year engineering degree from an accredited institution.
