DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

The Public Works Commission of the City of Fayetteville is seeking an individual to plan, direct and manage human resource activities for PWC.  Responsibilities include the formulation, administration, and direction of human resource policies/programs; maintaining compliance with state and federal legislation; managing staff regarding personnel policy and program matters to include recruitment, compensation, benefits, performance management, retention, promotion, management/employee relations, training and development, EEO/AA and occupational health.  Individual must have thorough knowledge of operation management concepts; thorough knowledge of principles/practices of public and business administration; thorough knowledge of current developments, literature and sources of information related to health insurance, benefits, training and development, compensation, and occupational health fields.  Successful candidate must possess ability to analyze and present statistical data related to benefits, compensation, training and development; plan, coordinate and prioritize work; prepare and maintain records/reports; manage/supervise people and multiple projects; and maintain effective working relationship with all levels of employees and general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited four (4) year university/college with a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, or related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience.

 

Special Requirement:  Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License at the time of selection into position.
