DRILLING ENGINEER ADVISOR - Oil & Gas Exploration & Production

Growing independent exploration and production company with both domestic and international operations is seeking a DRILLING ENGINEER ADVISOR for their West Africa Drilling business unit located in Houston.


ROLE:

This staff position, based in Houston Texas, will report to the Drilling Engineering Team Leader. The primary responsibility will be to prepare for and assist in the execution of a multi well development drilling program in the Gulf of Guinea (West Africa). The position requires you to work with the subsurface and operations teams to evaluate well options and select the best option. In addition, you will design the well(s), specify required goods and services and provide engineering support to the wellsite team throughout the execution and delivery of the wells.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Detailed well planning including design, engineering and drilling procedure generation

· Detailed time and cost estimates will be required for all well designs

· Generating equipment lists for long lead / non standard items

· Risk identification and management including establishing and maintaining a risk register

· Generating scopes of supply and technical and commercial tender evaluation procedures for contracting drilling services

· Acting as contracts accountable person for designated contracts

· Ensuring compliance with Global Drilling and other company policies and prepare dispensations where appropriate

· Providing engineering and operational support during well construction activities

· Performance tracking (actual vs. planned) and making recommendations for improvement

· Post well close out, AAR and reporting including capture of lessons learned and best practice


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· 10 -15 years drilling experience with subsea/deepwater drilling experience a desired preference

· Proven track record in well design, casing design, directional drilling, drill string and BHA design

· Excellent written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to develop ideas and work with minimal supervision

· Ability to mentor less experienced engineers and colleagues

· Commitment to HSE principles


DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

· Rigsite supervision experience

· Rig equipment design and installation experience

· Contract management experience

· Extended reach drilling experience

· Completion specifically sand control experience

· International experience


EDUCATION

A degree in Engineering
