Director, Commercial, Industrial & Institutional Services
In the past few years, energy and climate issues have becomeincreasingly important to business executives. They’re now expected to respondconvincingly to investors, regulators, employees, and customers on such topics,and rising energy prices, energy security, and global warming have become seriousconcerns. Business as usual is no longer just about cost reductions and betterenergy procurement. Companies must also make decisions about energy efficiency,green technologies, renewable energy, sustainability, climate change, andcarbon policies.
Electric and gas utilities as well as the largeenergy-consuming companies they serve are asking for help in figuring out whatto do and when to do it. In response, E Source isexpanding its information services directed at large commercial, industrial,and institutional (CI&I) customers.
We’re looking for a strong director to lead our CI&I Services, whichcurrently include the Managed AccountsService (MAS), the Corporate EnergyManagers’ Consortium (CEMC), the EnergyMarket Advisory Service, FacilityMetrics (a facility benchmarking service), and our Carbon ManagementServices. Collectively these services provide information and resourcesconcerning account-management strategies; energy-efficiency technologies, metricsand tools; energy management; sustainability; and greenhouse gas reductionstrategies. We also offer other products and services aimed at large businessesand the utility staff members who manage those accounts, and we expect the newCI&I director to help us continue to grow this part of our business.
The CI&I director, who will report to the executive vice president of E Source MemberServices, must be a dynamic leader who can help us enable utilities and largebusinesses to meet their energy and environmental goals. This individual willbe responsible for delivering overall value to E Source members and driving renewals of membersubscriptions. The position will require traveling, speaking at conferences andbefore utility staff, developing research agendas, and responding to Member Inquiriesthat fall into the CI&I area.
As the ultimate “owner” of the CI&I Services offered by E Source, the director will beresponsible for customer account management; retention of business revenue;product management; profit-and-loss accountability; and customer satisfactionwith E Source in general and specifically with subscriptions to CI&I Services.At present, two employees (the service managers for CEMC and our CarbonManagement Services) will report to the CI&I director. The job is based inbeautiful Boulder, Colorado.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customeraccount management, including:
·Retainingrevenues and customers. This is the director’s primary responsibility. It willrequire making regular and meaningful contacts by telephone, at conferences, viae-mail, and in face-to-face meetings. The successful candidate must be able totravel 20 to 30 percent of the time throughout the year.
·Buildingcustomer relationships, especially at the executive level.
·Maintainingand increasing customer satisfaction.
·Expandingcustomer use of current E Sourcememberships.
·Understandingcustomer needs.
·Creatingtailored solutions as needed.
·Promotingour Member Inquiry Service and answering questions on CI&I topics.
·Initiatingregular and ongoing customer communications.
·Helpingthe Sales team to expand existing accounts.
Productmanagement, including:
·Takingresponsibility for the profitability of CI&I services.
·Providingthought leadership for the CI&I product lines.
·Expanding(growing) the product lines through new initiatives and deliverables.
·Directingthe integrated research agenda for CI&I services.
·Workingwith our Marketing staff on communications and promotions for the service lines.
Industryoutreach and market development, including:
·Conductingongoing research to track markets, industry trends, and issues as well as toidentify market developments.
·Makingpresentations, as needed, both on-site for customers and at industryconferences.
·Prospectingat member companies for additional sales.
·Providingsupport to the Sales team to bring in new sales.
·Organizingconferences, working with our Events and Marketing teams. Responsibilitiesinclude agenda development, speaker recruitment, and help with promotion and encouragingmember attendance.
·Respondingto consulting proposals in collaboration with the Research and CreativeServices teams.
·Expandingour greenhouse gas inventory consulting.
Minimum Qualifications
·5to 10 years of demonstrated experience in utility CI&I key accountmanagement and/or as a major corporate energy/facility manager interfacing withutilities.
·Documentedknowledge in the following areas: energy-efficient technologies for businesses,demand-side management (DSM) programs, corporate energy management, climatechange issues, pending carbon management rulemaking, carbon management issues, greenhousegas inventories, renewable energy, and customer service.
·3to 5 years of management experience, ideally at the senior level.
·Collegedegree; graduate degree desirable.
·Strongpublic-speaking skills.
·Goodwriting skills.
·Strongcommunication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
