Our client is a dynamic, multi-billion dollar energy-related company operating in all areas of the energy value chain.  We are assisting them in finding a top-notched Director of Environmental Policy Oversight (Auditing/Compliance) to help lead, coordinate and oversee their environmental performance programs in support of the overall environmental mission and environmental objectives.  Reporting to the Chief Environmental Officer, you will work closely with the Corporate Environmental Issues Group and the Heads of Environmental Services within the operating companies. 

 

Some of the key areas of focus will include:Manage an independent auditing program and oversee internal auditing activities to monitor environmental performance and compliance, including independent audits of supply venders and treatment, storage and disposal facilities.Provide leadership, oversight and coordination for the implementation of an overall environmental management system (EMS) including business area and affiliate environmental management and continuous improvement programs.Support the office of the CEO in successfully achieving the company’s broad environmental objectives in the areas of auditing, compliance, business strategy, public policy advocacy, stakeholder interactions and corporate environmental stewardship.Ensure corporate environmental goals are met or exceeded; participate in setting these goals.Responsible for ensuring CEO is appropriately informed about and satisfied with the execution of these responsibilities/company policies, procedures, decisions, meeting and achieving goals, and stakeholder interactions.Play a key role in quarterly environmental operating reviews; facilitate appropriate high level management engagement in environmental policy and strategy.

 

We are seeking candidates that bring a Ph.D. in Environmental or Safety Engineering or related fields with 7+ years experience or an M.S. Degree and 10+ years experience (B.S. with 15+ years experience will be considered).  In addition, you’ll need at least 5 years of management responsibility. Certification preferred.  Your background will be rounded out with extensive knowledge of industry and environmental management best practices along with a strong ability to coordinate and manage activities across complex organizations.  This will be demonstrated through your ability to establish high credibility with colleagues and counterparts in business units using excellent internal/external communication skills.
