Basic Purpose:
Functional supply chain excellence leadership and effective risk management for all arrangements relating to World Wide Drilling Contracts activities. Develop and implement contracting strategies focused on driving HSEC best practice, optimisation of contracting services to meet business requirements, standardisation of documentation and automation, increased service levels across the Production operations.

Key Accountabilities: Assurance of global compliance with BHPB Corporate, CSG and S&L policies, procedures and statutory requirements Drive commercial contracting excellence and manage risk effectively Increased operational efficiencies by optimisation of contracting services Improved relationships with internal customers, functional teams and other BHPB Sites Improvements in Service Levels Increased data accuracy, management ownership and user trust / confidence in the SAP and CMS Systems Improved control and decision making using standard tools available in the system Increased visibility / audit ability across the integrated supply chain and an understanding of the mutual impacts of process aligned teams Improved lead time performance within contracting process ensuring contracts are awarded in timely fashion to meet business requirements Maintain an accurate contracts register reflecting all relevant Drilling contracts' status including performance data Improved contractor relationships
Responsibilities: Contracting Policies, Processes and Procedures - work with all other stakeholders ( Production, IT, HSEC, tax, legal, risk, finance) to drive continuous improvement of processes & procedures emphasising standardisation where possible Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key contractors to ensure best service, commercial terms, and surety of services Ensure 'best value ' achieved by competitive tendering, effective negotiation and contract structure Accurately quantify, classify and record Supply savings in Benefits Capture System (BCS) Align contractual, commercial and risk guidelines and approval policies to ensure effective governance Internal/ external benchmarking activities to achieve continuos performance improvement (HSEC, QA, Cost, Schedule etc.) Support and coaching contracts personnel Awareness of Drilling operational activities and ensuring that the contracts team is working closely with Contract Sponsors/Business Users and other functions to ensure contracting processes are implemented in timely fashion to meet business requirements (Contracting Strategies, Risk Assessments, Tendering Process, Negotiation, Contract Documents etc.)

Qualifications: University Degree or equivalent. Membership of ISM/CIPS preferred
Experience & Technical Competencies: Experience in the resources industry with exposure to major oil & gas operations specifically contract management A comprehensive understanding of upstream E&P business Advanced risk management skills Superior problem solving skills
