Environmental Health & Safety Manager

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

1. Partner with operations management to create and sustain and effective safety culture
2. Provide environmental, health & safety expertise to operations personnel
3. Identify and implement EH&S programs to improve performance, reduce risk or otherwise provide strategic advantages to the corporation
4. Participate in the development and review of EH&S procedures
5. Develop and implement management systems in accordance with the NiSource EH&S policy
6. Work closely with operations to verify EH&S compliance programs are appropriately implemented and executed in their areas of responsibility
7. Lead a team of EH&S coordinators who are normally co-located with operations
8. Lead confidential EH&S related investigations

 

 

Qualifications

 

-10 years of environmental compliance experience
- 4 years+ degree in Environmental, Safety or Health related curriculum or equivalent
-Strong working knowledge of safety regulations and management systems with experience in the electric T&D area required
-Electric T&D field background required
-Well developed leadership skills with a strong desire to act as a role model and mentor for their team.
-Demonstrated sense of urgency with the ability to successfully execute varied tasks
-Working knowledge of environmental permitting processes and a demonstrated ability to learn requirements and implementation of permit conditions for their areas of responsibility.
-Visible field presence is required, anticipating a 30% - 40% out of office travel commitment.
