Electrical Substation Designer - Job Description:
One of Total Design Services Energy's Engineering Consulting firms is looking for Electrical Substation Designers. The Electrical Substation Designer will be involved in retrofit and maintenance of existing substations for National Grid and Northeast Utilities.
Responsibilities for the Electrical Substation Designer:
- Designing modifications to electrical substations and transmission systems.
- Design includes Primary, Conceptual and Secondary phases of 115kV 13.8kV and 4160kV substation projects.
- Involved in the detail design of physical substation drawings for the different substations.
- Prepare design packages including: one line diagrams, schematics, physical layouts, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, ampacity charts, long lead material items, grounding grids, etc.
- Perform As-builts & fieldwork to the substations.
- Electrical Substation Designer will also be responsible for engineering and design for substation equipment upgrades.
- Design of substations and transmission systems using CAD and MicroStation.
- Direct and assist CAD designers in projects.
- Ensure timely completion and delivery of projects
- Work with clients to complete projects.
- Create document briefs and outlines for project design for client review.
Education:
It is preferred that the candidate should have a degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering. However, this is not a pre-requisite
