Electrical Engineer II - I

Job Description:This position is posted from an Engineer II (grade 14) to an Engineer I (grade 18) and is based out of AEP's corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.Applicant will perform electrical activities associated with the support of AEP’s fossil fired fleet. Responsibilities will include taking lead engineering roles in the development of PLC and HMI systems; power system analysis including load flow, relay coordination, and arc flash calculations using EasyPower engineering software; specification and procurement of electrical equipment including GSU and Aux transformers, large power distribution transformers, motors, low and medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage motor starters, battery systems and UPS systems. These responsibilities will be performed with minimal oversight from senior engineering personnel. Working knowledge of utility power plant systems is considered a plus.Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
