Electrical Field Engineer - Metering

The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for the overall implementation and support of relay and metering systems, to include troubleshooting, annual certifications, and emergency call-out duties. The Electrical Field Engineer will be fluent in programming and interfacing electrical metering, protective relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and IT network equipment. 1.         Configure and troubleshoot electrical systems, to include protective relay applications. 2.         Configure/Program, diagnose, and repair metering and SCADA communications equipment. This includes MAXsys 2510 revenue meters, Allen Bradley and GE-Fanuc PLCs, Areva e-terracontrol software, and various RTUs.3.         Configuration and implementation of metering devices to internal and external facilities.4.         Specify and install revenue metering and applicable SCADA interfaces for new construction and retrofit projects.  5.         Assist in the monitoring and validation of metering data to ensure quality and reliability issues.6.         Work call-outs on an as-needed basis. Job will require extensive travel with minimal time in the Folsom office. Required to work overtime during periods of high maintenance and plant outages.QualificationsA minimum of five years experience with protective relaying and metering applications, SCADA applications, and PLC and RTU interfacing. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, from an ABET accredited university, is preferred. 2.     Must have a detailed understanding of Metering functionality, including the hardware and software required for configuration and testing. PLC and RTU programming experience is required. 3.     Must have SCADA experience in programming and troubleshooting Modbus and DNP serial interfaces, including terminal services (over Ethernet). Must be proficient with a Windows networking environment, including security applications. 4.     Knowledgeable of standard networking systems utilized for SCADA communications, to include Ethernet switching and routing (IP addressing), telecommunications demarcation equipment, and physical layer interfacing (RS-232/485).  5.     Candidate must have the ability to be multi-tasking while scheduling, planning and working through multiple projects to completion. powerful performers Calpine is a leading independent power producer in the United States, delivering clean, reliable energy to a power hungry nation.
