JOB SUMMARY:

Apply manufacturing theory and principles to problems of production and plant layout under the direction of manufacturing engineering supervisor.  Facilitate release of new products by understanding engineering intent and reducing it to manufacturing practice including process engineering and lean manufacturing practices. Will develop and implement automation and control of various systems, design and test mechanical and/or electrical systems, perform engineering analysis on various system components, and troubleshoot automated systems. Maintain existing automated systems in production area and throughout facility as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.  Extensive related experience may be considered as substitute but not preferred.  This position requires 3-5 yrs of experience.  Incumbent must be highly motivated, results oriented, and be able to meet goals and objectives in a high growth company.  Other abilities are outlined below:Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods;Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.  Have ability to identify, launch, and sustain improvement programs;Knowledge of MS Office (esp. Word and Excel);Ability to read and understand mechanical and/or electrical drawings;Exercise excellent technical communication skills;Good presentation skills;Sound understanding of interpretation of test results, procedures and/or inspection data;Understand purpose of SOP (standard operation procedures) and know how to write them.3 Years work experience as automation technician/engineer

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing departments and personnel;Evaluate and improve methods of workers;Analyze technical data, designs, and specifications;Advise personnel regarding changes of processes and procedures;Examine engineering documents for completeness and accuracy prior to product revision or release;Use mathematical or statistical methods to identify or analyze problems;Understand and implement statistical process control;Implement process improvement based on results;Inspect manufactured products and materials;Prepare technical reports and related documentation;Record test results, procedures, and inspection data;Recommend modifications to production standards to achieve optimum quality to meet engineering intentions;Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality products;Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine reliability standards;Study time, motivation, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiency;PLC programming using various platforms (Allen Bradley preferred)Wiring of panels and system components in accordance the electrical codePlanning, providing specs, and assembly of components of an automated systemAnalyze and determine appropriate components for a given systemCreate reports, drawings, procedures and other documentationImplement process improvement based on resultsOther duties as assigned.
