Energy Business Management position - Engineering

This opportunity is with a large multi-national engineering corporation with an office located in the greater Tampa, FL area. This company provides engineering, technical support, program management, construction services and many other energy related services to clients in the US and throughout the world.  The company is greatly expanding their business in the United States and increasing the size of their FL operation.  To effectively grow the business, they need leaders with an engineering background who can rapidly learn their business model and take over a business segment.  Currently in the US market, they have business segments in oil & gas facilities, nuclear power, coal & combined cycle plants, renewable energy facilities as well as some manufacturing and logistics areas.  Magellan Professional Solutions is a prior military recruiting firm that has been selected to source prior military engineering officers for this company.

 

General position description:

This is a full-time opportunity in the energy/engineering field.  Once selected and hired, you will engage into a leadership development program where you will be exposed to many different facets of the corporation over an 18-24 month period.  During training, candidates will report direct to either the VP of Technical Services or VP of Manpower.  Once candidates have attained sufficient level of experience, they will take over the leadership of one of the business segments in the company.  The exact position will not be defined until the mentor team leaders effectively match experience and aptitude to the right position.  By the current position definition, the MDP Manager will engage in a rigorous management rotation schedule with the goal of becoming a high impact, senior level manager within the company.  Eventually, you will have the capability to develop and/or grow client relationships to effectively canvass and penetrate market opportunities.

 

During the leadership development program, you will travel to client sites throughout the US (some global operations if required) to learn client project concerns, corporate culture at client sites, while at the same time engaging in customer service issues to learn the business.  The travel will be extensive, sometimes going up to 70%, but you will work out of the Tampa office. This position will require you to hit the ground running and rapidly pick up energy sector client issues and concerns.  Your project exposure and interest/enthusiasm towards a particular area will determine which business segments are offered to you.  The goal of the leadership development program will be to prepare you to be the manager of one of the business segments where you will have responsibility to run the organization.

 

Position requirements:

Candidates must be a prior military officer with a BS degree in engineering.  Prefer prior Navy nuclear trained officers, surface warfare officers (with EOOW qualifications) or aviation engineering officers.
