Energy Project Director -Albany NY

OUR client who is an Industry Leader in the  Engineering Industry and has excellent opportunity in their Energy Group. Our client  is looking for a Project Director that will be a part of the management team.

Prime Responsibility:

 

Responsible for the development and management of energy related analysis, consulting and construction work from the initial stage of a project assessment, through audit & design proposal, contract negotiation, design through completion of construction and commissioning.  In addition to direct contributions, emphasis will be on management of the various resources needed to complete the project (internal & external), financial management (including internal accounting and customer billings). Act as the main contact between the client and the company once the project has progressed into the detailed audit phase.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  

· Directly performs initial energy analysis and assessment of opportunities.

· Work with others to determine the appropriate scope of work to suit client

· Determine and direct the resources assigned to a project to complete the appropriate work within the budget and schedule.

· Manage work performed by others within the energy services project including preliminary evaluations, detailed energy audits, cost estimating, financial analysis, contract development, design development, preparation of construction documents, bidding, subcontractor selection, construction management and commissioning.

· Review and assure proper approvals obtained for all assigned work before submitting to the client or potential client.

· Participate in presentations made to clients or as a technical support function to the sales personnel.

· Develop and/or facilitate cost projections and schedules for all project phases.

· Complete paperwork required for reporting to and securing approvals from management (budgets, job number requests, job closings, contracts, etc.).

· Develop a list of owner’s needs and expectations so that they can be incorporated into the work. Schedule meetings to formally present the results of the work and secure approvals to proceed. Prepare and distribute documentation of all client meetings.

· Review final written documents and the associated technical aspects of the work to develop and clearly present recommendations that meet the client’s needs to the greatest extent possible while balancing the company’s risk to complete the work.

· Complete technical evaluations as required by the project or in support of the project team.

· Project scope includes; energy audits, design-build heating and cooling projects, design-build co-generation plants, as well as comprehensive energy efficiency projects that could include lighting improvements, energy management and control system installation, building envelope modifications, chiller, boiler & cooling tower retrofits, & HVAC distribution system upgrades. 

· Preparation of documents related to bidding, subcontractor selection, construction administration, cost control and quality control.

 

Job Specifications: 

· Knowledge of standard engineering and construction development and the five phases of a project; initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing.

· Background in construction of Mechanical Systems preferably in design/build environment.

· Must have solid interpersonal communication skills required to build consensus among diverse participants in projects.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks.

· Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of completion.

· Ability to present clear, understandable ideas in both a written and verbal manner (including formal presentations).

·  Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and experience with a scheduling program (MS Project, Primavera, etc.). 

· Project accounting software experience desired.

· PE, PMP/PMI, or CEM certification desired.

 

Education:

BS in engineering or technical field and a is required.

 

Experience:

A minimum of ten years experience in development or execution of engineering and construction projects for HVAC or energy systems

 

Direct Reports: 

May supervise and provide guidance to engineering interns, designers, or engineers
